Welcome to KSEA
The Kollegewidgwok Sailing Education Association (KSEA) is a non-profit sailing school serving Blue Hill and the surrounding region. Each summer, we offer classes for beginners to advanced sailors, for children and adults. All of our sailing instructors are U.S. Sailing Level 1 Instructor certified, and many have their Level 2 certification.
The KSEA Sailing School season begins with Community Sailing Week - a week of introductory sailing classes open to beginners of all ages. Our regular program of rowing, Optimist and 420 sailing classes begins in late June and runs into mid-August. See below for this year's calendar.
2017 Class Schedule
Community Sailing Week: June 26 - June 30
Session 1: July 3 - July 7
Session 2: July 10 - July 21
Session 3: July 24 - August 4
Session 4: August 7 - August 18
Register promptly. Some classes, especially Optimist A and B, fill up early. No exceptions will be made to class size. Boat ownership does not guarantee a spot in a class. There are waiting lists when classes are full.
Registration must be done online with a credit card. Registration will begin for KYC members on March 15, 2017 at 1200. Registration for non-members will open on April 1, 2017 at 1200. Please be sure to register ahead for all classes, since many classes fill up early, and no exceptions to class size will be made.
A child whose parents are not members of KYC is asked to pay $35 to become a junior member. Once a junior member, whether currently enrolled in a class or not, the sailor is entitled to participate in race days and other KSEA-sponsored special events throughout the summer. The maximum charge for junior membership is $70 per family. Junior membership is not required for Rowing or Community Sailing Week participants.
